Sometimes a simple piece of warm bread is just what you have been craving. The saying “it’s your bread and butter” doesn’t exist for nothing. Bread is a fundamental piece of the culinary puzzle. So it is not uncommon for a low carber, or even someone who is simply trying to cut grains out of their diet, to miss such a specific food; bread. I have used other low carb bread recipe in the past though they are quite time consuming and require baking an entire loaf. What if you just want one piece? That is why I came up with this super easy Skillet Bread recipe. All it requires is a few ingredients and a cast iron skillet.
What you will need:
1/2 teaspoon coconut oil or butter
1 tablespoon milled or ground flax seeds
1 tablespoon coconut flour
Seasonings of your choice. I made cinnamon bread (1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon stevia) though you can add whatever seasoning suit your fancy. I love going the savory route with this recipe and adding a bunch of dried herbs and garlic as well. Get creative!
Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and add your oil or butter to the pan. Mix the remaining ingredients until they form a dough. Roll or pat out your dough until it is about 1/4 inch thick. Cook on each side for about 2 minutes or until your bread is golden brown. Serve warm with your favorite toppings. I love a little grass-fed butter melted on top but if you go savory, a little marinara or grated cheese is fantastic! Enjoy!
