Get the scoop on: Matcha Green Tea
What is Matcha? Matcha is high quality green tea that is stone ground into a fine powder. It has an earthy taste that I can only describe as strong green tea. Though, it is also very smooth and almost creamy.
Where can you get Matcha? Matcha is now sold at the majority of health food stores and grocery stores like Whole Foods. You can also order it online! Click here to see the Matcha I purchase!
Why should you use Matcha? When consuming Matcha, you consume the leaf in its entirety. Because of this, Matcha is extremely high in antioxidants which aid in anti-aging, cancer prevention, and over-all health. Matcha is also high in fiber thanks to the whole leaf idea. Its high clorafil content helps to combat inflation and keep you glowing. A serving of Matcha contains about 35 mg of caffeine so it has enough caffeine to keep you alert while still having a calming effect. Monks drink Matcha to stay sharp while still maintaining to tranquil state of mind. This also means no caffeine crash like you get with coffee!
How can you use Matcha? My favorite way to use Matcha is by blending it into smoothies. I make a Matcha smoothie for breakfast in my “What I Eat In A Day” post. I also make it the traditional way: boil water and stir in about a teaspoon of the Matcha powder. Though, I love adding milk and stevia to it to make a Match latte!
